Eddie Preston

Although Eddie Preston is most beneficial known for his stints with Charles Mingus, Preston by no means became too popular. He used local big rings as soon as 1945, and caused Lionel Hampton from 1955-56, Ray Charles in 1959, Louis Jordan from 1960-61 and briefly with Duke Ellington in 1962 and Count number Basie in 1963. Preston was with Mingus on / off from 1963-65. Over time freelancing, including period with Sonny Stitt and Frank Foster, Preston was back again with Mingus from 1970-72, acquiring period off for another period with Ellington in 1971. Following the Mingus association finished, Preston frequently led his personal groups, although he previously opportunities to utilize Rahsaan Roland Kirk in 1977 and Archie Shepp in 1979. But not a significant improviser, Preston (who hasn’t yet going a recording program of his personal) always experienced an appealing firmness and a flexible style.
