Eddie Miller

Eddie Miller had a lovely tone on his tenor, much like Bud Freeman, although his design was significantly less angular. Miller was a solidly swinging participant who fit conveniently into Dixieland and golf swing settings. He proved helpful skillfully in New Orleans at age 16 and in 1930 produced his documenting debut with Julie Wintz. He was well-featured with Ben Pollack’s Orchestra (1930-1934) so when Bob Crosby overran the ensemble, Miller became among its main superstars. Furthermore to his many solos with Crosby’s Orchestra as well as the Bobcats, Miller was an excellent clarinetist who had taken a famous single on “South Rampart Road Parade.” From the music he composed, the haunting “Gradual Mood” captured on and became a typical. When Crosby split up the music group in 1942, Miller come up with a short-lived orchestra of his personal before becoming drafted.
