Ed Xiques

Xiques attended Boston School, where he studied with Jaki Byard and Supplement Pomeroy. After graduating in 1962, he transferred to NY and worked for quite some time as a instructor. He also used such music artists as Pal Morrow, Les Elgart, and Duke Pearson, and in 1970 was briefly an associate of Woody Herman’s music group. Through the ’70s, he used the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra while also functioning freelance. From 1983-1986, he used the Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabackin big music group. Within the ’90s, Xiques continued to be active being a instructor, performer, and composer around the brand new York City region.
