Ebb Tides

Columbus, OH-based garage area clothing the Ebb-Tides formed in 1963–according towards the publication Fuzz, Acidity & Flowers, vocalist/guitarist Don Kyre, business lead guitarist Mike Wheeler and bassist Mike Whited were simply 14 at that time, with 10-year-old drummer Dan Waldron rounding out the lineup. The group quickly gained notoriety for headlining some sock-hops sponsored by regional train station WCOL; while playing the 1964 Ohio Condition Good, the Ebb-Tides had been discovered by skill scouts from the neighborhood NBC television affiliate marketer and invited to seem around the station’s teenager music display Dance Party. The broadcast publicity led to an invitation to become listed on 1965’s “Shindig All-Star Review,” using the music group support tourmates Bobby Sherman and Del Shannon; that same 12 months, the Ebb-Tides released their debut solitary “Little Ladies,” documented in Nashville for launch around the Clark label. The next 12 months, Ben VanDervort–an insurance salesman going to family members in Columbus–was persuaded to become listed on the music group, assuming vocal responsibilities along with the stage name ‘Benny Vehicle’; his impact recognized 1967’s psych-rock work “Séance.” The Ebb-Tides quickly break up, with VanDervort and Waldron reuniting in Tree; in 1970, VanDervort transformed his name to J.D. Blackfoot, issuing some LPs under that name through the decade to check out.
