Contemporary blues singer E.C. Scott brings a cool ’90s sensibility to her traditional spirit and gospel affects. Elevated in Oakland, California, Scott was raised hearing gospel performers like Shirley Caesar and Inez Andrews; as she grew old, she started to disregard her mother’s limitations on secular music and sampled the noises of the wealthy soul music on her behalf sisters’ radio. Scott was performing in nightclubs by enough time she was 16, but her relationship quickly put her profession on hiatus. When her two kids were old plenty of, Scott made a decision to continue her singing profession with her family’s blessing; she in the beginning worked like a jazz stylist, but quickly returned towards the blues and R&B she understood well. Scott developed her local group of fans and performed at many blues festivals throughout the U.S. just before putting your signature on to Blind Pig in 1994. Her debut record, Come MAKE YOUR Love, premiered the following calendar year; it was implemented in 1998 by Hard Action to Follow. 2 yrs afterwards, Scott resurfaced with Masterpiece.
