Acquiring their name from a favorite slang expression for the type of cheap, colorful poncho or wall structure dangling one might grab like a souvenir inside a Mexican border town, Medicine Rug are definately not the type of electric kool-aid rejuvenated, stoner-rocking hippie wannabes one might anticipate from the strap name. Rather, the duo of performing guitarists Sarah Cronin and Thomas Allen fall even more in to the self-consciously lovable subcategory of indie pop that will garner terms like “shambling,” “twee,” and “lo-fi” in its evaluations. Drug Rug created in 2006 in Cambridge, MA, when Cronin and Allen fulfilled while operating behind the pub at the famous Central Square indie rock and roll mecca THE CENTER East. Stunning up an individual and creative relationship, the duo started writing and executing together being a folk-influenced acoustic duo, shortly drafting various close friends from the neighborhood pop picture (including people of Tulsa, Apollo Sunlight, and the Deceased Trees and shrubs) to complete their audio both live and on tape. After putting your signature on towards the indie label Dark and Greene Information, Medication Rug released their self-titled debut in nov 2007.
