Drowningman

Not conveniently pigeonholed, Drowningman’s blisteringly intense sound combines components of rock, modern hardcore, grinding noise, mathematics rock and roll, and emo (both in its melodic and progressive, Dischord-esque forms). The music group was formed within the improbable college city of Burlington, VT; its associates included vocalist Simon Brody, guitarists Javin Leonard and Matt Roy, bassist Dave Barnett, and drummer Joe Villemaire. Drowningman debuted in 1997 using a 7″ one, “Weighted and Weighed Down,” on Boston-based Hydra Mind Records; exactly the same label released their debut LP, Busy Indication on the Suicide Hotline, in 1998. The record caused a mix within the metalcore underground, which just increased once the group turned towards the Revelation label and released the EP THE WAY THEY Light Tobacco in Jail in 2000. Drowningman’s second full-length, Stone Killing Machine, implemented later that calendar year to enthusiastic testimonials, growing their cult pursuing. The music group toured thoroughly in 2001, and released an EP through Identical Vision known as Drowningman Still Adores You. However the lineup wasn’t solid, and Drowningman began to drift. Nevertheless, by 2004 Brody got reconnected with early member Denny Donovan, and using other area music artists strike restart on Drowningman. A rarities collection made an appearance in 2004, and do not Press Us When We’re Popular made an appearance from Thorp in fall months 2005.
