Drew Phelps

Bass participant Drew Phelps was raised in North Tx — in Denton to become exact. Playing bass acoustic guitar while in junior senior high school, he was tuned onto the music from the Allman Brothers and Freddie Ruler. It wasn’t until he moved into university that he considered bass. Through the 1980s, he installed with veteran contemporary jazz music artists like Wayne Clay and Nuradeen Fameen. Granted a scholarship or grant to the institution of Good Arts in the Banff Center in Canada, he continued to review with contemporary bass participant Dave Holland. On the way, Phelps offers recorded with a number of organizations, playing a number of musical designs — the Dixie Chicks, Dallas jazz pianist Dave Zoller, and fusionist and hard bopper Ronald Shannon Jackson. He released his debut recording Circular to It in 2000.
