Dread Flimstone

Funky reggae, hiphop with vocals, DJing, and Jamaican-style toasting are some conditions that describe Dread Flimstone’s music. Hailing from Venice Seaside, CA, maker/musician Rex Morgan was raised within an ethnically varied environment, wholeheartedly soaking in the affects of R&B, funk, and spirit noises. After flirting having a punk rock and roll profession, Morgan became a Rastafarian, developing dreadlocks and playing reggae. A few of his favorites are Sugars Minott and Barrington Levy. The Dread Flimstone moniker began as a tale when Morgan was focusing on a music task. Teaming with vocalist Jah T and Papa Yaie, he created Dread Flimstone and the present day Tone Age Family members. The music group toured with Burning up Spear, Yellowman, Ziggy Marley, UNDER-DEVELOPED, and Big Sound Dynamite. After having an individual named “From your Ghetto” around the 1992 compilation Acidity Jazz Collection One, the music group was agreed upon to Scotti Bros. Information written by BMG. The Through the Ghetto album was released in springtime 1992 and included such standouts as the name monitor, a cover of Billy Stewart’s “Seated in the Recreation area,” “Understanding,” and “Tribute.”
