Guitarist Eric Peterson was a founding person in ’80s thrashers Testament, and remained using the group since it continued saving with the ’90s. Nevertheless, he also became interested in the extreme dark metal sounds via Europe and, specifically, Norway; so, through the later ’90s, he started working on materials for the reason that vein with keyboardist Lyle Livingston and Testament bassist Steve DiGiorgio, who acquired previously honed his chops in the Florida loss of life metal picture with top clothes like Death. Previous Sadus drummer Jon Allen became a member of the task, and brand-new Testament touring guitarist Steve Smyth was also recruited, while Peterson produced his initial forays into performing lead. The debut Dragonlord record, Rapture, premiered in summertime 2001 by Spitfire, exactly the same label that transported Testament.
