Andre Harrell (Dr. Jeckyll) and Alonzo Dark brown (Mr. Hyde) initial joined up with up in 1980 with Harlem Globe Crew, however they ultimately broke in the group to create Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, adding DJ George Llado (Nothing on Galaxy). The group became known most because of their first one, “Genius Rap,” which included the Tom Tom Club’s “Genius of Like” and strike number 31 over the dark singles chart. Dispersed singles — “THE TASK,” “Fast Lifestyle,” “Gettin’ Cash” — had been released between 1982-1984, before the group’s lone record, 1985’s Champagne of Rap. Although duo divide in 1987, Dark brown briefly continuing to record being a single musician. “Genius of Rap” provides made performances on old-school compilations through the entire years, like the second level of Thump’s Lowrider Jams series, aswell as the next level of Rhino’s Road Jams series. Harrell became a significant executive manufacturer and led the effective Uptown label.
