down MF

Forging a union of post-punk noisemaking and soul-baring angst, down MF begins with a tone of voice that oozes melancholy, contempt, and mordant wit all at one time. Combine the tone of voice with the audio of the jagged guitar that prefers in order to avoid the reduced end and place it over a steaming bed of stark, pounding rhythms. The effect is really a singularly effective music group whose achievement was frequently in inverse percentage to their general public recognition or industrial success. straight down MF was created by Michigan indigenous Scott Sendra in 1991, after his prior noise-punk music group Snake River imploded carrying out a short relocation to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. Sendra opted to come back to Michigan and resolved in Ypsilanti, where he quickly began forming a fresh group. The band’s lineup presented Sendra on acoustic guitar and vocals, Chip Porter on bass and R. Scott Kelly on drums; they resolved on the name down (“small-case, pretentious,” as Sendra himself explained the selected punctuation of the moniker). After just two gigs, down documented their 1st EP, Trip the Pine, that was released on Sendra’s personal label, Bonehead Rex. Another EP, Royal Crown, premiered on Bonehead Rex in 1992 and was the ultimate record of down’s 1st lineup; Porter and Kelly both remaining the music group and later on performed with Tim Sendra in his group Veronica Lake. Scott Sendra, in the mean time, relocated to Lansing, MI, and started playing bass using the folk-punk music group Apollo 9 (whose innovator, Soren Davis, experienced caused Sendra inside a prior task, Handbag of Wire). Sendra recruited Apollo 9 drummer Pat Expenses to try out in a fresh release of down, while Brian Widdis quickly authorized on as down’s bassist. As the fresh down lineup documented a demonstration tape and performed several live gigs, it wasn’t until 1995 that this music group released an archive, Solid Condition/Don’t Dig the brand new Breed of dog. That same 12 months, the group was focusing on their first full-length recording when they found that Phil Anselmo from Pantera and Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity had been joining forces for any side task…which they made a decision to name Down. Ultimately, Sendra reached funds using the label, liberating the metallic all-stars’ recording which paid him for turning over privileges towards the name, in addition to permitting Sendra’s group to keep as down MF. In 1996, down MF’s recording Will Failure Ruin down MF? premiered, but a 12 months later, the music group split up and Sendra drawn up stakes to go to Philadelphia, PA. After going for a break from music, in 2000 Sendra shaped a new model of down MF structured away from Philadelphia, offering multi-instrumentalist Damian Elias, percussionist Peter Hanley, and bassist Janna Sendra (Scott’s spouse). This model of down MF released an ambitious Compact disc/7″ single established, REGULATIONS of Diminishing Comes back, in 2002.
