Doug Seegers can be an Americana singer and songwriter located in Nashville. While developing up in Setauket, NY (on Long Isle), Seegers was attracted to the music his parents cherished and sang: hard nation music from Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Faron Youthful, Webb Pierce, etc. Like the majority of teens, he fell deeply in love with rock and roll & move and learned to try out acoustic guitar. He was specifically taken using the music of John Lennon. He went to university and graduate college in NEW YORK. In the first ’70s, Seegers’ musical dreams required him to Austin, where he renamed himself “Duke the Drifter.” There he experienced guitarist and maker Friend Miller, and for a while they not merely played collectively, but Seegers resided with Miller and his wife. While there, he noticed — and was deeply relocated by — the country-rock growing from your Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Neil Youthful, and Gram Parsons’ recordings with Emmylou Harris, declaring they brought him back again to his 1st musical like. Seegers remaining Austin and relocated to upstate NY, where he wedded and had kids. After they had been grown, he remaining for Nashville to once again pursue his imagine being truly a musician. He busked within the roads and performed for suggestions wherever he could. He worked well like a carpenter whenever you can, but misfortune and addiction stated everything but his tone of voice, and he became homeless. He continuing busking and playing songwriters’ evenings at the tiny Pantry That Could, a charity operate by Stacy Downey. In early 2014 Jill Johnson, a Swedish nation music star, found Nashville to produce a documentary about down-and-out music artists for Swedish nationwide television. She discovered of Downey’s charity and became thinking about her songwriters’ evenings. Downey had taken the production staff to areas where road performers often performed. When she discovered Seegers appearing out of an alley, she presented him to Johnson. He originally refused to try out, but ultimately sat down on the lawn privately from the alley and sang: “I am going right down to the river, to clean my soul once again/I been working using the devil, and I understand he is not really my pal.” She and her manufacturer had been stunned. Her whole task became Seegers, the person and musician. She had taken him to the money Cabin (Johnny and June’s studio room) and documented “HEADING DOWN towards the River.” When it had been released in Sweden, it became a smash, topping the Scandinavian iTunes graphs. This fueled even more recordings. With manufacturer Will Kimbrough, Seegers got into Cowboy Jack port Clement’s Audio Emporium and documented an entire record in three times. He reunited with Miller, who originally begged from the session because of period constraints — until he discovered who it had been. He fell everything and drove down. He subsequently enlisted Emmylou Harris to sing on the cover of Parsons’ “She.” The finished 12-song record, entitled HEADING DOWN towards the River, highlighted an all-star ensemble including Phil Madeira, Kimbrough, Al Perkins, and Barbara Lamb, to mention a few. It had been released in Sweden in June of 2014 and garnered product sales, radio enjoy, and chart achievement. Seegers proceeded to go over for an extremely effective tour and his popularity began to pass on throughout Western European countries.
