Doug Riley

b. Douglas Brian Riley, 12 Apr 1945, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, d. 27 August 2007, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Riley performed piano from early youth, then examined in Toronto on the Royal Conservatory of Music with the town’s school. Among his passions was the music from the First Countries, notably that of the Iroquois. On the other hand, he also performed within an R&B music group at a Toronto nightclub and started gaining a popularity as a author of jingles. In the 70s he proved helpful in tv as manufacturer and sideman and in addition led his very own huge vocal and instrumental group, Dr. Music. The group’s recordings included some Canadian Best 20 strikes and some albums for the GRT label in the first 70s. This function continued through the next 10 years, including Dr. Music Circa 1984, and in every Riley performed on some 300 documenting periods. In the 90s Riley paid even more focus on playing live music, chiefly within a quartet with saxophonist Phil Dwyer, and continued to be popular for shows. Riley devoted enough time to composing at his house on Prince Edward Isle. His function spanned traditional and pop music, and likewise to piano he also performed body organ, polling in the very best spot from the Jazz Survey Honours as Jazz Organist Of THE ENTIRE YEAR from 1993-2000. Among music artists with whom he performed and sometimes documented, or worked well in creation, are Guido Basso, the Brecker Brothers, Measha Bruggergosman, Ray Charles (playing on and organizing for 1968’s Performing His Thing), and Placido Domingo (organizing ‘None HOWEVER THE Lonely Center’). Riley also documented using the London Symphony Orchestra), Ofra Harnoy, Molly Johnson, Jake Langley, Gordon Lightfoot, Natalie McMaster, Anne Murray (showing up on some 25 albums), Jackie Richardson, John Roby, Bob Seger, Ringo Starr, Dionne Taylor, David Clayton-Thomas and Tyler Yarema. Riley was musical movie director from the CELEBRITIES Players for a few 2 decades and made up ballets, including Dreams, for the Canadian Country wide Ballet, a dual concerto for flute, clarinet, saxophone and string quartet for Moe Koffman, and a piano concerto for Mario Bernardi as well as the Country wide Arts Center Orchestra. In 2004 Riley was granted the Purchase of Canada. In 2007, he was traveling back again to his house when he collapsed and passed away from a coronary attack at Calgary airport terminal.
