Doug Lawrence

An excellent tenor saxophonist who is a dear sidemen in lots of configurations, Doug Lawrence finally led his debut Compact disc in 1997, Spirit Carnival (Fable). Everyone in Lawrence’s family members performed music (including his dad, who performed saxophone, and his five old siblings). He began playing traditional clarinet when he was eight, switching to jazz alto five years back. Lawrence went to North Texas Condition University or college briefly but quickly dropped out to be on the road having a Dallas music group, playing tenor. In 1979 he became a member of the Special Solutions Music group at West Stage. In 1986 he relocated to NY where he offers since used Benny Goodman (you start with the Loren Schoenberg Orchestra that Goodman required over), Buck Clayton’s big music group, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Jay McShann, Sarah Vaughan, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, and many more. In 1997 he was an intermittent sub using the Count number Basie Orchestra. Lawrence in addition has recorded using the DMP Big Music group and Buck Clayton’s Golf swing Music group; his solo REARFOOT Sneakers implemented in 1999.
