Doug James

b. Douglas Adam Schlecht, 21 August 1953, Turlock, California, USA. Inspired to take a pastime in music by his cathedral organist mother, Adam soon started teaching himself to try out saxophone, eventually selecting the baritone relation although he also has tenor saxophone and bass clarinet. After he and his family members lived for some time in Oregon, they resolved in Rhode Isle. There, in 1971, he started a spell with guitarist Duke Robillard’s music group, Roomful Of Blues, which includes continued intermittently in to the brand-new millennium. With this music group, Adam toured internationally and documented thoroughly, including Eddie ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson And Roomful Of Blues (1982) and Blues Teach: Big Joe Turner & Roomful Of Blues (1983). Aside from Eddie Vinson and ‘Big’ Joe Turner, Adam has often supported other observed blues exponents, including LaVern Baker, Helen Humes, Colin Adam, Freddie Ruler, Charlie Musselwhite, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Junior Walker, Muddy Waters and Jimmy Witherspoon. For his personal name debut recording in 2001, Wayne encircled himself with previous Roomful Of Blues players, including Robillard. Among these music artists is definitely fellow saxophonist ‘Sax’ Gordon Beadle (b. 1965, Detroit, Michigan, USA), with whom Wayne also takes on in other types and he also prospects an intermittent big band.
