Double Dagger

The brainchild of two edgy graphic artists from Baltimore, Two times Dagger is a hardcore punk/art-rock trio formed in 2002. Vocalist Nolen Strals and bassist Bruce Willen experienced previously played collectively in Little league of Loss of life and re-formed with drummer Brian Dubin soon after the group’s last show using the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Due to the fact Willen and Strals proved helpful day jobs within an artwork firm known as Post Typography, it wasn’t a huge shock that they made a decision to name the brand new group after a typographic mark. The diesis, or dual dagger as its occasionally referred to, used a flashy logo design (‡), and exposed merchandising opportunities to allow them to showcase their design skills. The music group self-released several attempts, and after documenting their self-titled debut LP, they authorized to Thrill Jockey, a amazing label choice, producing them probably the most punky group around the label — before liberating More in ’09 2009. The group toured thoroughly for another year. In the mean time, Strals and Willen released a skill book of music group flyers within Soundscreen Style’s Designer Music Journal series. Their style skills had been showcased again on the EP, Masks, that was released in a restricted operate with metallic printer ink and three alternative addresses in March of 2010.
