Affectionately referred to as “the World’s Greatest Storyteller,” Dorothy Norwood used her soulful vocals and uplifting delivery to go up towards the upper echelon of contemporary gospel music. Five of her albums accomplished gold position. Her studio function also garnered Grammy, Dove, and Stellar award nominations. Norwood was created in Atlanta, Georgia in 1935 and was touring and carrying out with a family group group at age eight. After she shifted to Chicago in 1956, she sang with Mahalia Jackson and Reverend Wayne Cleveland and was an associate from the Caravans. Through the middle-’60s, she released a solo profession using the Savoy label and was popular right away.
