An excellent virtuoso, Dorothy Donegan constantly switched between boogie-woogie, bop, stride, Artwork Tatum-style golf swing, and classical music, occasionally within the same chorus. In concert, she frequently come up with spontaneous medleys of unrelated tunes and was by no means timid to dance while she performed. She studied in the Chicago Conservatory and Chicago Music University and produced her documenting debut in 1942. Donegan produced a sensational appearance within the film Feelings of 1945 but by no means captured on that big despite her amazing technique. She documented not nearly as expensive one would anticipate (six obscure albums during 1954-1963 and nothing at all during 1964-1974) and had not been actually that well-known within the jazz globe until the middle-’80s. Several live Chiaroscuro CDs from 1990-1991 discovered her in maximum type, but she needed to be noticed to be completely appreciated. She passed away of cancer on, may 19, 1998.
