Donna Lewis

A classically trained pianist blessed having a breathy, cherubic tone of voice, Welsh pop designer Donna Lewis is most beneficial known on her behalf 1996 strike “I REALLY LIKE You Usually Forever.” Given birth to in Cardiff, Wales in 1973, Lewis 1st gained musical motivation from her dad, a jazz pianist. Beginning at age group six, she required piano lessons, and by her teenagers was composing her very own pop tracks. After senior high school, Lewis gained her music level through the Welsh University of Music and Crisis, where she got majored in traditional structure for piano and flute. Upon graduating, she spent per year teaching music in Sussex, and she shifted to Birmingham to hone her abilities, playing single piano shows with regional bar rings. By 1990, Lewis got developed a devoted group of fans and begun saving demos of her tracks in her house studio. A demonstration of “I REALLY LIKE You Often Forever” captured the hearing of Atlantic Information chairman Doug Morris, who purportedly flew Lewis to NY for an audition and quickly agreed upon her towards the label. In 1996, she released her debut record, Now ina moment, which featured creation from Kevin Killen (David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Shawn Colvin) and included the one “I REALLY LIKE You Often Forever.” An infectious, buoyant creation similar to the poppier end of Kate Bush’s audio, “I REALLY LIKE You Usually Forever” was a discovery strike for Lewis, residing at the quantity two i’m all over this Billboard’s Warm 100 graph for nine consecutive weeks and eventually reaching platinum position. The song’s reputation was a benefit to Lewis, who following made an appearance as herself with an bout of the FOX tv drama Beverly Hillsides, 90210, and dueted with Richard Marx in the tune “At the start” for the soundtrack towards the 1997 cartoon film Anastasia. Lewis came back in 1998 with her sophomore record, the Killen-produced Blue Globe. While the record was well-received, producing the main Billboard dance graph single “Appreciate Him,” along with the less European chart strike “I POSSIBLY COULD Be the main one,” it didn’t match the outsized achievement of Now ina moment, and Lewis ultimately parted methods with Atlantic. Switching gears, she collaborated with guitarist/manufacturer David Torn in the electronica EP Chute, and transferred to a far more stripped-down acoustic audio on her behalf third record, 2002’s independently created Be Still. On the next many years, Lewis remained busy composing and recording materials on her behalf follow-up; an activity that was placed on hold for just two years when she provided delivery to her little girl. In 2008, she released her 4th recording, In the Red, which discovered her time for the lush, electronic-tinged pop of her debut. In 2015, Lewis shipped the jazz-inflected addresses recording Brand New Day time, which presented her vocals supported by iconoclastic trio the Poor Plus. Alongside stripped-interpretations of tunes by David Bowie, Chocolates Genius, among others, the recording also included the brand new composition “Rest,” along with a reworking of “I REALLY LIKE You Usually Forever.”
