Donald Fagen was among the two masterminds at the rear of Steely Dan, the seminal jazz-pop music group from the ’70s. Fagen’s single function is a continuation from the band’s function of the first ’80s — thoroughly constructed and organized, intricately comprehensive pop songs which are bigger than their stylish surface area may show. His 1982 single debut, The Nightfly, was the very best album he previously manufactured in years; it protected the same floor because the last two Steely Dan albums, yet surpassed them with regards to ambition and accomplishment.
