Don Rader

A fantastic straight-ahead bop soloist, Don Rader is an ideal exemplory case of a jazz musician who have been a lot more popular had he lived in NY during a lot of his profession. Rader began playing trumpet when he was five (his dad was his 1st instructor) and was constantly technically experienced. After going to Sam Houston Condition Teachers University and serving within the Military, he performed and wrote plans for the best rings of Woody Herman (1959-1961), Maynard Ferguson (1961-1963), and Count number Basie (1963-1964). Rader experienced shorter stints with Louie Bellson, Harry Wayne, Terry Gibbs, and Frank Foster’s quintet, was frequently utilized by Henry Mancini for his recordings, and toured thoroughly with Les Dark brown (on / off during 1967-1972) and Stan Kenton. In 1972 Rader created his personal quintet, settling within the Los Angeles region and dealing with many best local music artists including Lanny Morgan and the first Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabackin Big Music group.
