Biography

b. Don Lloyd Amburgey, c.1931, Kentucky, USA. Among six kids, Chapel grew up in an exceedingly musical atmosphere; sisters Irene, Bertha and Opal sang as Martha, Minnie and Mattie, sunlight Young ladies. Irene, who wedded Adam Roberts, became observed nation gospel vocalist Martha Carson; Minnie sang with Costs Carlisle; Mattie, who had taken the stage name of Jean Chapel, became a rockabilly superstar. Encouraged with the last mentioned, who documented his ‘I’ve Got A Mem’ry (You Can’t Contact)’, Don focused on songwriting and on the way implementing his sister’s stage surname. His music, some created in cooperation with others, have already been recorded over time by many superstars of nation and rock and roll, including Lynn Anderson, Doug Kershaw, Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Louvin, Melba Montgomery, Webb Pierce, Ray Cost, Ernest Tubb and Conway Twitty. Through the 60s, Chapel proved helpful for various documenting companies, sometimes documenting himself but frequently as a songwriter. In the past due 60s, he and his little girl, future nation vocalist Donna Chapel, documented duets, including ‘Consider JUST A LITTLE Goodwill House’ and ‘We’ve Got Like’; another of his three kids, Mike, performed drums and became an archive manufacturer. With Donna and Mike, Chapel made an appearance because the Chapperones. In 1967, he and nation vocalist Tammy Wynette had been married plus they briefly proved helpful together. Both acquired three kids and Donna was for some time among Wynette’s backing performers. The marriage didn’t last lengthy and, under personal and professional stresses, the following calendar year these were divorced. Among Wynette’s recordings are a few of Chapel’s music, including ‘Jointly We Stand, Divided We Fall’ (which she do being a duet with David Houston), ‘Joey’, ‘My Center Is Soakin’ Moist’ and ‘All Evening Long’. One of the better known and most-recorded of Chapel’s music is certainly ‘When The Lawn Increases Over Me’, notably by George Jones who also documented ‘Allow’s Get Jointly’. Other music of Chapel’s consist of ‘From Here TOWARDS THE Door’, ‘Contact FROM THE Party Tonight’, ‘Misty Morning hours Rainfall’, ‘Everything Is certainly RETURNING But You’, ‘Give food to It TOWARDS THE Seafood’ and ‘Loving You Is certainly A MEANS Of Lifestyle With Me’. Among tunes that Chapel also documented are ‘Right here We Go Once again’, ‘Hurtin’ Period’, ‘Summer season Winds’ and ‘Blossoms And Candy’. Although songwriting was central to his profession from its first years, Chapel offers appeared like a performer on many events, including acquiring the stage in the Grand Ole Opry.

#Fact
1 Don who hails from Missouri never lost his southern accent throughout his long acting career. It seems odd that he only accepted or was offered very few western genre roles. Only 2 to be exact!.
2 Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, including a double major in theatre and art from Southwest Missouri State College in 1965. Graduated with an MA in Theatre from Southern Illinois University in 1970. Taught for ten years at the University of British Columbia, then completed his PhD in theatre at SIU in 1982.
3 His hobbies included painting, drawing and woodcarving.
4 Was paid a posthumous tribute by the makers of "Stargate Atlantis" by having a new starship named for his character, General Hammond, who also died unexpectedly.
5 His last appearance as "Gen. Hammond" was in Stargate: Continuum (2008), which was released in the US a month after his death.
6 He was the only person to have an actual military service record on Stargate SG-1 (1997).
7 In one year (1991), appeared in two different productions in which a game of chess was played where humans are used for game pieces and if captured, they would be killed: Twin Peaks (1990) and the "All the King's Horses" episode of "Monkey Planet" (2000).
