Don Bagley

Formally been trained in bass, composition and arranging, Don Bagley made his early reputation touring and saving with Stan Kenton from 1950-1953. He consequently works with Kenton once again at differing times, however in 1954 Bagley started heading his personal rings. He was quite occupied like a program musician aswell; Bagley documented in LA with Nat “Ruler” Cole, Maynard Ferguson and Dexter Gordon from 1950-52, after that did overseas times with Zoot Sims, Lars Gullin and a sextet led by Frank Rosolino and Ake Persson in Paris and Sweden in 1953. Bagley worked well thoroughly with Kenton once again and with Les Brownish between 1956 and 1967, but nonetheless found enough time to record in 1957 and 1958 with rings whose rosters included sometimes Jimmie Rowles, Shelly Manne and Phil Woods. There have been also engagements with Pete Fountain in 1959 and Ben Webster in 1961. The profitable world of tv and movies beckoned, with Bagley performing many plans and compositions in the ’70s and ’80s, plus operating from 1976-1984 for mentioned pop songwriter Burt Bacharach.
