b. Donovan George Pinnock, 2 Dec 1964, Victoria City, Manchester, Jamaica, Western world Indies. During his formative years Don-A-V examined mechanical engineering as well as the arts although his initial like was music. He originally performed in cathedral as a vocalist although pursuing his education at the neighborhood Holmwood Technical university he made a decision to pursue a profession in the dancehall being a DJ. He shortly realised that his personal dreams were more suitable for the role of the vocalist. In 1986 his audition with manufacturer Harry J. led to his initial recording session.
