Biography

An excellent bop pianist who by no means became everything famous, Dolo Coker’s most high-profile period was when he recorded frequently for Xanadu in the past due ’70s. Back the 1950s, he previously worked and documented with Sonny Stitt (1955-1957), Gene Ammons, Lou Donaldson, Artwork Pepper (showing up on his Modern recording Strength), Philly Joe Jones, and Dexter Gordon (1960-1961). He resolved in LA in 1961, leading his personal trio. In the 1970s, Coker caused Stitt again, furthermore to Plant Ellis, Blue Mitchell, Crimson Rodney, Lee Konitz, Sonny Criss, Supersax, and several artists from the Xanadu label.
