The Chicago group Dolly Varden produces rootsy, atmospheric tunes laced with rock, country, and soul influences. The couple songwriting group of Diane Christiansen and Stephen Dawson first found prominence in cow-punkers Stump the Host. Both founded Dolly Varden in 1995, documenting their debut recording, Mouthful of Lays, in Christiansen’s transformed art studio room and liberating it independently Mid-Fi label.
