Ditch Witch

Biography

Named following a machine useful for excavation and trench-digging on construction sites, the roots-pop strap Ditch Witch produced in Columbia, Missouri in 1991 with vocalist/guitarist Chris Gebhardt, guitarist Barry Hibdon, drummer Joel Trueblood and bassist/vocalist Craig Winn. Sketching on affects like Neil Youthful, Creedence Clearwater Revival as well as the Substitutes, the quartet released a set of independent-label singles, “EASILY Lose” and “Her Fall,” both afterwards collected on the 1994 debut All over the place Nowhere, which proclaimed the addition of brand-new drummer Brian Coughlin. Following entrance of bassist Shannon Mercer, Ditch Witch released their sophomore work, Starvation Container, in 1996.
