Dislocation Dance

Biography

Dislocation Dance is seen because the unsung forebears of mid-’80s jazz-inflected works such as Golf swing Out Sister and Matt Bianco; their impact may also be noticed on Stereolab. Shaped in the first ’80s by Andy Diagram (trumpet, vocals), Ian Runacres (electric guitar, keyboards, vocals), Paul Emmerson (bass), and Richard Harrison (drums), Dislocation Dance stitched jointly a patchwork of minimalist brand-new influx, ’60s French pop, and jazz. The group’s unassuming sound was warmly embraced with the indie group within the U.K., plus they also appeared together with the Pops. In 1981, Dislocation Dance released their debut record, Music Music Music; furthermore, they performed live for pioneering United kingdom DJ John Peel off. When vocalist Kathryn Method joined up with Dislocation Dance, the music group almost sounded such as a distaff edition of Liverpool’s the Pale Fountains, an organization Diagram was also an associate of. After documenting their second LP, 1984’s Midnight Change, Dislocation Dance disintegrated. Diagram ultimately joined Adam; he also shaped the Spaceheads. In 1999, Vinyl fabric Japan released Dislocation Dance’s BBC Periods from 1981-1982. A season afterwards, the label reissued Midnight Change on Compact disc with B-sides, remixes, along with a cover from the Beatles’ “WE ARE ABLE TO Function It Out.” Music Music Music was also finally released on Compact disc.
