Dimitri from Paris

In comparison to his cohorts in the brand new wave of People from france dance music, Dimitri from Paris appears much further afield for his affects. While both Surroundings and Daft Punk make a lot of their love for the music from the 1970s (prog and disco, respectively), Monsieur Dimitri’s motivation originates from the Continental jet-setting faux-jazz from the 1950s and early ’60s (exemplified by Dick Hyman, John Barry, and Martin Denny), although whole is up to date by his lengthy years of knowledge as a residence DJ. Located in France though he was created in Turkey, Dimitri got into the dance music community through the middle-’80s by DJing on the French Radio 7. By 1990, his popularity acquired allowed him to record soundtracks for style barons like Chanel, Lagerfeld, and Gaultier. He released two single EPs during 1993-1994, in addition to the mini-LP Esquisses, and added to the Yellowish Productions compilation La Yellowish 357. He also remixed a huge selection of performers, including Björk, the newest Heavies, New Purchase, James Dark brown, and Etienne Daho. Dimitri’s debut record, Sacrebleu, made an appearance in past due 1996, also on Yellow Productions.
