Digby Fairweather & His New Georgians

b. 25 Apr 1946, Rochford, Essex, Britain. Fairweather first performed trumpet semi-professionally around his city. In 1971 he shaped his own little band, later using numerous market leaders, including Eggy Ley, Dave Shepherd and Alex Welsh. His popularity established, at the start of 1977 Fairweather got the plunge and became a full-time musician. Subsequently, he led his very own bands and performed within the Midnite Follies Orchestra. He also proved helpful in small rings including Velvet, a co-operative music group with Len Skeat, Ike Isaacs and Denny Wright, a trumpet-piano duo with Stan Barker, with whom Fairweather was also involved with educational function, the Pizza Express All Superstars and Brian Priestley’s septet. A fantastic mainstream trumpeter with a complete, rich shade, Fairweather’s elegant playing style is specially suitable to ballads.
