Highly technical acoustic guitarist Thomas Diethelm joined with imaginative keyboards and piano player Santino Famulari to create the Swiss duo Diethelm/Famulari in 1982. Although they disbanded in 1984, their liquid, jazz-influenced albums — Diethelm/Famulari, Valleys in my own Head, as well as the Flyer — continuing to inspire a fresh era of Swiss instrumentalists. Diethelm/Famulari caused several distinct drummer/percussionist through the 2 yrs that these were jointly. While India-born percussionist Trilok added an Eastern slant with their self-titled debut record, the greater jazz-influenced drummer Fritz Hauser was highlighted over the duo’s second outing, Valleys in my own Mind. Acoustic guitarist Diethelm used a number of gadgetry, including delays, harmonizers, and flangers, to improve the audio of his instrument’s nylon strings.
