Die Edlseer

Die Edlseer certainly are a popular volksmusik quartet of teenagers through the southeast Austrian condition of Styria who achieved exceptional achievement within their homeland by infusing traditional folk music using a modern mentality and youthful zest. Made up of Fritz Kristoferitsch (bass, vocals, trombone), Manfred Maier (electric guitar, clarinette, saxophone), Andreas Doppelhofer (keyboards, Styrian harmonica), and Luigi Neuwirth (electric guitar, trombone, vocals), the group was founded in 1990 and started being a trio (i.e., Edlseer Trio). Die Edlseer frequently compete for the Grand Prix der Volksmusik: in 2000 their tune “Weil i a Schürzenjäger Bin” earned first place within the Austrian category and 6th place general, in 2001 their tune “Edlziller Party-Knüller” earned first place within the Austrian category and 4th place general, in 2004 their tune “I Bleib bei Volksmusik” earned first place within the Austrian category and 6th place general, and in 2006 their tune “A Musikant im Trachteng’wand” earned first place within the Austrian category and 4th place general. Their albums add a Echter Steirerklang (1995), Uafoch Stoark (1996), Jung, Zünftig, Super Drauf (1997), Sowieso Samma Froh (1998), Alles Klar (1999), Echt Great (2000), Wir Stehen auf Frauen-Power (2002), Die Größten Strikes der Volksmusik (2003), I Bleib bei Volksmusik (2004), Herz an Herz (2005), Ein Herz aus Volksmusik (2006), and Rot Weiss Rot (2007). Their well-known breakthrough was included with “Madonna Mia,” popular single off their 1997 record Jung, Zünftig, Super Drauf.
