Didier Hébert

The blind guitarist Didier Hébert accompanied accordionist Dewey Segura on simply three sides recorded for Columbia in 1929, then recorded his own solo track “I Woke Up One Morning hours in-may” at the same session. Barely an auspicious profession, although compilation of Hébert’s monitor on Harry Smith’s renowned folksong compendium Anthology of American Folk Music provided the Louisiana musician a little more posthumous popularity than the majority of his ’20s-period compatriots. His music with Segura are available over the Library of Congress compilation Music of Appreciate, Courtship and Relationship.
