Dickie Rock

b. 1946, Cabra, Dublin, Eire. After a spell with Dublin’s Melochords, Rock and roll found prominence around the Irish showband circuit, when he changed Jimmy Harte as business lead vocalist in the Miami Showband. Along with his slim body and jug ears, Rock and roll appeared the antithesis from the hunky showband pop superstar as personified with the Royal Showband’s Brendan Bowyer.
