Dick Katz

A versatile pianist and arranger, Dick Katz continues to be in charge of many stimulating and memorable recordings over time, often as a significant sideman and/or manufacturer. He studied on the Peabody Institute, the Manhattan College of Music, and Juilliard, furthermore to acquiring piano lessons from Teddy Wilson. In the 1950s, he found important knowledge as an associate of the home rhythm portion of the Café Bohemia, using the sets of Ben Webster and Kenny Dorham, the Oscar Pettiford big music group, and afterwards with Carmen McRae.
