Dick Berk

Leader from the Jazz Adoption Company because the early ’80s, Dick Berk was important both like a stimulating drummer so when a skill scout. After going to the Berklee University of Music and using rings in Boston in the first ’60s, he shifted to NY, where he performed having a quintet that included Ted Curson and Expenses Barron (1962-1964), plus with Charles Mingus, Mose Allison, Freddie Hubbard, and Walter Bishop, Jr., amongst others. Relocating to LA in the past due ’60s, Berk worked well and recorded numerous top music artists including Milt Jackson, George Duke, Cal Tjader, Jean-Luc Ponty, and Blue Mitchell. Berk, who ultimately shifted to the Pacific Northwest, documented sets for Finding, Tendency, 9 Winds, and Tank; one of the sidemen he presented along with his Jazz Adoption Company had been trombonists Andy Martin and Mike Fahn, baritonist Nick Brignola, vibraphonist Jon Nagorney, pianists Keith Saunders and Tad Weed, and bassist John Patitucci.
