Dhol Foundation

The multi-membered Dhol Base (named following a North Indian drum created from a big wooden shell) combines components of both classic Indian music using the unmistakable rhythms of world music, developing a completely original and compelling sound. The group’s head is certainly arranger/drummer/keyboardist/vocalist Johnny Kalsi, who discovered his tips of the trade from being truly a person in the acclaimed Bhangra music group Alaap. Soon after signing up for, Kalsi began tinkering with big beats and modern-day dance guidelines, and after many admirers inquired if he’d coach them how exactly to play this design, he formed among the largest Dhol institutes in every of Britain — the Dhol Base. In 2001, Kalsi was became a member of by several college students to record the Dhol Foundation’s debut recording, Big Drum: Little World.
