Denis Payton

Denis Payton was essentially the most visible saxophonist in rock and roll — and certainly in Uk rock and roll & move — from the mid-’60s. As an associate from the Dave Clark Five, his baritone sax helped punch in the rhythm portion of countless songs from the group between 1962 and 1970, while his harmonica and classical guitar efforts significantly embellished the timbre and tonal color of the band’s music. Given birth to in London in 1943, Denis Western Payton developed a pastime in music like a young man, mostly by hearing New Orleans jazz on 78 rpm information.
