Demonspeed

With one patent natural leather shoe firmly planted within the evil-Elvis crooner college made famous by Glenn Danzig, and another squashing the cockroach that’s N.Con.C.-styled post-punk pretentiousness, Fresh Jersey’s Demonspeed notoriously defend a credo of ‘murder and martinis.’ Formed in 1994 by vocalist/guitarist Matt Payne, guitarist Chris Shannon, bassist Sal Villanueva and drummer Jim “The Golf swing” Ruler, the band’s suave hipster fits belie their undisguised enthusiasm for both rock and punk, that they surreptitiously match elements of golf swing into groovy, finger-snapping music about serial killers — nearly the type of music group you buying to mother. Following a few demonstration and single produces, the group debuted with 1997’s Golf swing is certainly Hell, but, inexplicably, their alluring musical cocktail didn’t earn favor using the nationwide P.T.A., and, aside from the unusual E.P. discharge, Demonspeed have barely been noticed from since.
