Folk vocalist and key pad/accordion participant Debra Peters relocated to Austin, Tx, USA, to pursue her profession, aware of the greater obvious performance possibilities and the amount of talented part musicians. Therefore her backing music group, the Like Saints, can draw on the abilities of Erik Hokkanen (fiddle), Tom Middleton (dobro), David Murray (acoustic guitar) and Ponty Bone tissue (vocals), among many others, as the event demands. All made an appearance on her behalf 1993 debut recording, Twisted Love. Merging R&B, nation and Cajun designs, this included 11 self-written compositions plus vibrant readings of Huey ‘Piano’ Smith’s ‘Large Blood Pressure’ and can Ray’s ‘Tumbleweed’. There have been also co-writing credits for Wayne Hancock, notably around the sanguine nation duet, ‘Five Dollars And A Handshake’, and visitor looks for celebrated Austin music artists John X Reed and Jesse Taylor. ‘Farther On Down The Collection’, an unapologetic rock and roll track, and ‘Goodbye Baby Goodbye’, a far more restrained folk lament, exhibited Peters’ flexibility and determination to deal with different musical contexts and a qualified, winning method of songwriting. Allied to excellent musicianship from your cream of regional talent it guaranteed a solid debut.
