De Leon

DeLeon can be an indie rock-band from Brooklyn, NY, that pulls a lot of its materials and motivation from Sephardi Jewish cultural custom. The Sephardi Jews inhabited the Iberian Peninsula (i.e., modern-day Spain and Portugal) before late 15th hundred years, when they had been pretty much expelled with the Catholic cathedral. Made up of Dan Saks (vocals, electric guitar, banjo), Kevin Snider (bass, vocals), Justin Riddle (drums), Amy Crawford (keyboards, vocals), and Andrew Oom (trumpet), the music group is named following the 12th hundred years Kabalistic philosopher Moses DeLeon. DeLeon produced their live show debut in Apr 2007 on the Bowery Ballroom in NEW YORK. They eventually toured to get Ozomatli, Mike Gordon (of Phish), and Balkan Defeat Box. The music group produced its full-length record debut in 2008 with DeLeon in the Jewish indie label JDub Information.
