Before moving to Brooklyn in 2011, the members of indie rock trio Daytona almost all played music collectively in college music Mecca Chapel Hill, NEW YORK. Migrating individually, guitarist Hunter Simpson (also an associate of Brooklyn folk/punk music group Crazy Yaks), bassist Jose Boyer, and drummer Christopher Lauderdale reconnected in NY and started gigging and documenting as Daytona. Marrying African and Caribbean rhythms having a melodic post-rock audio, the group released their initial EP, Storm SUCH A LONG TIME, in 2012 before putting your signature on using the Ernest Jenning Record Firm later that calendar year. Teaming up with manufacturer and Chapel Hill indigenous Ari Picker of Shed in the Trees and shrubs, Daytona documented their self-titled debut LP, which arrived in later 2013.
