Davka

The band Davka includes Adam Levenson (doumbek, zarb), Daniel Hoffman (violin), and Moses Sedler (cello). Structured away from California’s Bay Region, the group mixes traditional Jewish melodies with Middle Eastern rhythms; jazz improvisation with traditional technique. Davka performed frequently in their house section of Berkeley and SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, and once used Israeli pop superstar Noa. In 1995, Davka started playing more faraway venues, and also have since performed on the annual Ashkenaz Celebration of New Yiddish Lifestyle in Toronto (more often than once), New York’s Knitting Stock, along with a multicultural celebration in Western world Virginia.
