David Wax Museum

While students at Harvard University, singer/songwriter David Wax nurtured his burgeoning desire for Mexican folk music by firmly taking frequent trips south from the border to help expand his musical research. After meeting vocalist and fiddler Suz Slezak back Cambridge, Polish fused his Mexican-inspired tunes with Slezak’s Appalachian and Irish affects in a method they dubbed “Mexo-Americana.” Beneath the name David Polish Museum, both released their debut LP, I SWITCHED OFF CONSIDERING, in 2008 and started touring their eclectic audio over the U.S. Following a launch of their 2009 follow-up, Carpenter Parrot, they came into and received a song competition that got them an area in the 2010 Newport Folk Event. Their breakout overall performance at the event elevated the band’s profile significantly and by enough time that they had released their critically acclaimed 2011 LP, Everything Is definitely Saved, David Polish Museum had been playing high-profile slot machines at South by Southwest and experienced relocated up to Newport’s primary stage. Using the launch of 2012’s Knock Knock GET RIGHT UP, their sound started to broaden, getting even more expansive and experimental with raising rock influences.
