David & the Citizens

Swedish indie pop music group David & the People was begun by vocalist/guitarist David Fridlund in 1999, who by 2000 recruited Conny Fridh (bass), Alexander Madsen (electric guitar), Mikael Carlsson (drums), and Magnus Bjerkert (trumpet). The music group issued a small number of LPs and EPs (mainly on Swedish label Adrian) and discovered success within their house nation (they received a nomination to get a Swedish Grammy in 2004), though hadn’t released anything in THE UNITED STATES apart from Fridlund’s single record Amaterasu via Hidden Plan in 2005. In 2006, NY label Friendly Fireplace Recordings released a six-song, self-titled EP offering select tracks in planning for the full-length record Before Sadness IS FULLY GONE. Carrying out a few lineup adjustments, by 2006 the music group was Fridlund, Fridh, Magnus Bjerkert, and John Bjerkert on drums.
