David Samuels

b. 9 Oct 1948, Waukegan, Illinois, USA. Samuels performed the drums from age six. While seeking a qualification in mindset at Boston College or university in 1971, he researched vibraphone with Gary Burton and continued to teach on the Berklee University Of Music (1971-74). He shifted to NY in 1974 and caused Gerry Mulligan for 3 years in addition to beginning the group Timepiece. In the past due 70s he proved helpful and documented with Frank Zappa as well as the group Increase Picture, with which he toured European countries. He trained workshops on the Manhattan College of Music and performed in an organization known as Gallery with Michael DiPasqua, Paul McCandless and David Darling. Throughout this era he had a growing participation with Spyro Gyra, learning to be a complete member in 1986 and keeping until the middle-90s. Samuels provides released several periods as head, and currently works together with clarinettist Paquito D’Rivera and metal drummer Andy Narrell as co-leader from the Caribbean Jazz Task.
