David Rea

David Rea has produced his most significant marks being a program participant and songwriter. Shifting to Toronto, at age 17, Rea performed and documented with such Canadian performers as Gordon Lightfoot, Jesse Winchester, and Ian & Sylvia, who protected his music, “Pilgrimage to Heaven” and “The Minstrel.” Furthermore, Rea added his distinct fingerstyle electric guitar playing to recordings by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Tom Hurry, Judy Collins, Ramblin’ Jack port Elliott, and Doug Kershaw. Inspired by Joni Mitchell and Neil Youthful to create his own tracks, Rea reached his maximum when Leslie Western and Felix Pappalardi’s hard rock-band, Mountain, documented three tracks — “Mississippi Queen,” “For Yasgur’s Plantation,” and “Blossoms of Bad” — that he co-wrote with Pappalardi. Rea’s debut single album, Maverick Kid, released in 1969 and made by Pappalardi, designated him like a guaranteeing folk-pop performer. Soon after documenting his second single album, From the Elegance of God, Rea was asked to displace Richard Thompson in English folk-rock music group Fairport Convention. The knowledge, however, didn’t achieve success and Rea still left the group after 8 weeks and came back to Canada. Rea provides subsequently done a number of unforgettable tasks. He helped Mike Seeger through the documenting of the record, THE NEXT Annual Farewell Reunion in 1975. The next year, Rea created an opera, Emperor Norton, with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Although he withdrew from open public attention in the first ’80s to greatly help increase his kids, Rea resurfaced in 1988 to make a three-program series, David Rea’s Robert Johnson, predicated on the life span and music from the important bluesman, and, an application, Music Don’t Brain that analyzed the role from the Western and black custom on American music for the Canadian Broadcasting Organization.
