Since 1975, this New Zealand artist has produced numerous trips to India to soak up the culture, research the music, and record performances by indigenous artists. Furthermore to making two albums of traditional Tibetan ritual music with the monks from the Drop Tse Chok Ling Monastery (for the Fortuna Information Sacred Ceremonies series), Parsons provides translated the fact of his oriental journeys with the lush however deep soundscapes he has generated for several highly regarded single albums. Originally a jazz-rock drummer, he became thinking about the music of India when he noticed a functionality by sitar professional Ravi Shankar over 2 decades back. Parsons bought a sitar and explored the device by himself for quite some time before learning with Krishna Chakravarty, among Shankar’s most achieved disciples. After many trips towards the East, Parsons constructed almost solely for Indian equipment until 1979 when he bought his initial synthesizer. He today owns among the largest digital documenting studios in New Zealand, where he composes for radio, Television, and film. His devotion to both Traditional western technology and Eastern music offers designed for a powerful, highly imaginative design of composition.
