Biography

David Ossman could state to be probably the most literate of all members within the Firesign Theater. Blessed in Santa Monica in 1936, Ossman started writing research fiction tales and poetry in junior high and senior high school, having many pieces released. At Pomona University, he also considered performing, starring in productions from the Crucible and Fumed Oak, amongst others. Ossman after that used in Columbia School where he continuing to self-publish his poems. In 1958, he started working for a fresh York Town radio station being a summer months replacing announcer and series manufacturer, whetting his urge for food for radio being a moderate for his composing. In the middle-’60s, now came back to LA, Ossman co-hosted Radio Totally free Oz, a precursor from the Firesign Theater, at KPFK. Though originally a debate and music plan, increasingly more humor made its method into the present, helped by friend Phil Austin and potential Firesign Theater associates Peter Bergman and Phil Proctor. Within Firesign Theater, Ossman is most likely most widely known as George Tirebiter, the everyman hero of Don’t Crush That Dwarf, Hands Me the Pliers, that has later resulted in on additional albums and concert events. In 1973, he released his just solo recording, How Period Flys, with involvement of the complete group, after that toured with Phil Austin in 1975, showing up at schools and humor clubs. He offers continued to create, produce, and work, creating a 50th wedding anniversary performance of Battle from the Worlds for NPR, and adapting Tom Lewis’s publication Empire from the Atmosphere for radio. Another solo recording, USA Mean Period, was recorded however, not released.
